Dear friends,

This is a quick note to let you know the current status of the Dallas Stroke Network facilities. Recently Presbyterian Hospital Dallas received its Primary Stroke Center certification from the Joint Commission. We congratulate their team for this well-deserved acknowledgement and welcome Presbyterian Hospital Dallas as a Primary Stroke Center.

The current Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Centers in the BioTel transport and response area are now:

1. Baylor University Medical Center
2. Medical Center of Plano
3. Medical City Dallas Hospital
4. Parkland Memorial Hospital
5. Presbyterian Hospital Dallas

I am informed that Methodist Dallas Medical Center and Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake will shortly be undergoing Primary Stroke Center certification inspections by the Joint Commission as well. We wish them all the best in these efforts.

Please notify your field providers of this update at your earliest convenience. Please also remind your providers to contact BioTel as early as possible when caring for a patient exhibiting signs and/or symptoms compatible with acute stroke. This will allow us to promptly activate the Stroke Network and help optimize evaluation and management of these patients.

Many thanks, as always.

Sincerely,

Ray Fowler, MD, FACEP
Chief of BioTel Operations
Professor of Emergency Medicine
Co-Chief in the Section on EMS, Disaster Medicine, and Homeland Security
UT Southwestern Medical Center
